An ante is placed by the player who then receives 5 cards face down. The dealer receives one card face up. Comparing the value of your cards to the dealer’s visible card you can either bet or surrender.
If you bet you have to double your ante and then the dealer is dealt four more cards. If the dealers hand qualifies, is higher then or equal to Ace/King, and your hand is higher then you win. The payoff in Caribbean Stud Poker is determined by the rank of your hand.
If the dealer does not qualify you are paid 1 to 1 on your ante.
The progressive jackpot is entered buy placing $1 into the progressive jackpot slot next located on the table prior to the hand being dealt. If you forget to do this and you hit the jackpot you won’t get paid the progressive
If you’ve entered the progressive jackpot and you hit a Royal Flush then you are in the money!
Caribbean Stud History
The exact origins of Caribbean Stud Poker are vague, however, it is generally accepted that it was invented around the late 1980’s either on a cruise ship navigating the Caribbean or in a Caribbean Island casino.It soon spread to Las Vegas where it caught on due to its simplicity and the big draw of the progressive jackpot, even though the house odds are so bad at 5.224%.
