NETeller cuts off US customers

Stephen Lawrence and John Lefebvre, who founded the company but stepped down as directors before the UIGEA was introduced, were arrested on Monday and charged with money laundering.

As a result NETeller issued the follwing statement today: "Due to recent US legislative changes and events, effective immediately, US members are no longer able to transfer funds to or from any online gambling sites."

NETeller stressed that US customers would continue to be able to use its service to transfer money to non-gambling merchants, and empahsised that customers accounts would not be frozen or otherwise affected.
